Special Waste Management in San Antonio and South Texas

Turned down by your last hauler?

We hold a contaminated soil hauling license from the Railroad Commission of Texas and the registrations to transport Class 1 and Class 2 non-hazardous industrial waste, including sandblast media. Tell us what the material is and we will tell you what it needs before it moves.

EPA ID TXR000083663

RRC registration RN109046839

IHW transporter registration SWR 96263

Solid Waste Haulers Permit, City of San Antonio

Has a hauler already turned your load down?

It usually happens late. The excavation is open, the material is stockpiled, and the roll-off company you have used for years takes one look at the profile and says they cannot take it. Now the job is holding for disposal, and the people asking when it clears are not the people who understand why it stopped.

Special waste is any material that needs particular handling or permitting because of what it is chemically, physically, or biologically, or because of the risk it carries. Contaminated soil counts. So does spent blast media off a coating job. Most roll-off companies in San Antonio can take construction debris and nothing else, so when this material comes up, they have to pass.

The other version of this call comes earlier, from the procurement side. Someone is qualifying a hauler for a remediation scope and needs to see the actual registrations before the work is awarded. Either way, the question is the same one: can you legally take this, and can you prove it. Call 210-372-8666 and we will answer it on the first call.

The credentials that let us take it

EPA ID: TXR000083663

Covers waste transport registration

Railroad Commission of Texas Registgration: RN109046839

Covers waste tied to oil, gas, and pipeline work

Industrial and Hazardous Waste transporter registration: SWR 96263

Allows us to transport of Class 1 and Class 2 non-hazardous industrial waste

Contaminated Soil Hauling License from RRC

Permits us to handle contaminated soil specifically

Solid Waste Haulers Permit, City of San Antonio

Allows us to operate within San Antonio and the Bexar County

One clarification worth making, because it comes up on nearly every qualification call. The Industrial and Hazardous Waste transporter registration carries the words "hazardous waste" because that is the name of the state program we are registered under. It is not a description of what we haul. We move non-hazardous material only, nothing above Class 2, and we will say so in writing.

The full set with context on each one is on our permits page. For a plain reading of what registered hauling actually changes on a job site, see our overview of EPA-registered waste hauling across South Texas.

What we take, and what we don't

We can haulWe cannot haul
Contaminated soil, tested and classified non-hazardousAnything testing above Class 2
Sandblast media from coating and painting workBatteries and automotive fluids, flammable or explosive materials
Non-hazardous special waste with proper documentationTires, medical waste, asbestos, propane tanks or any appliance still holding refrigerant

Spent blast media is the one that surprises people. It often carries metals stripped off the old coating, which is why it needs testing before anyone can classify it. Once that is done, we can haul it.

If your material tests above Class 2, you need a licensed hazardous waste hauler and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after a truck is dispatched.

How it works

Four steps, and you only own the first one.

You arrange a TCLP test

The Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure classifies the material. We can point you to a testing partner, but the result belongs to you as the generator, so we do not run it ourselves.

The test classifies the material

It will confirm if the material is Class 1 or Class 2 non-hazardous.

We set up the waste profile

our team will check and give you proper guidance according to the waste classification.

We haul and dispose

We will dispose it at a landfill licensed to receive that class, under Railroad Commission of Texas compliant terms.

Because the haul runs under our Railroad Commission of Texas registration and the material goes to a landfill licensed for its class, the disposal stays traceable after the job closes.

Our guide to contaminated soil hauling in San Antonio walks the same sequence in more depth if you want it before you call.

Containers and sizing

20yd tx dumpter container
20-Cubic Yard Dumpsters
30yd tx dumpsters
30-Cubic Yard Dumpsters
40yd tx dumpsters
40-Cubic Yard Dumpsters
Compactor

Most special waste and contaminated soil work runs on the 30 and 40 yard roll-off containers, because these tend to be volume digs and cleanouts rather than trim-out debris. Soil is heavy, so you will often reach the 10 ton road limit before the box looks full. Plan on more containers than the volume alone suggests.

When one container will not finish the job, we swap it. The full one goes out for disposal, an empty one lands on the same spot, and your crew keeps digging. Compare the 30 yard against the 40 yard before you book.

Why choose South Texas Dumpsters

You reach someone who knows your material

Waste profile questions and manifest problems do not arrive at convenient moments. They arrive mid-job, from a foreman standing next to a truck. When you call us, you get a person who can look at your classification and answer, rather than a call center queue and a ticket number.

A local operator with over a decade in this market

We have served San Antonio, Austin, and South and Central Texas for over a decade, and every registration and license above is current. National haulers can match the container. What they tend not to match is a dispatcher who already knows which landfill takes your class and what the site access looks like on your street.

Special waste management questions

Class 1 and Class 2 are Texas classifications for non-hazardous industrial waste. Class 1 needs more careful management and can only go to landfills permitted to accept it. Class 2 covers most other non-hazardous industrial waste, which a wider range of landfills can take. We are registered to transport either one.

EPA ID TXR000083663, Railroad Commission of Texas registration RN109046839, and an Industrial and Hazardous Waste transporter registration (SWR 96263) covering Class 1 and Class 2 non-hazardous industrial waste. For contaminated soil we hold a contaminated soil hauling license from the Railroad Commission of Texas. In San Antonio we carry the Solid Waste Haulers Permit, City of San Antonio. The full list is on our permits page.

We can coordinate it and point you to a testing partner, but we do not run the test ourselves. The classification is the generator's responsibility, so the result belongs to you. We make sure the right test happens, then build the disposal around what it says.

San Antonio and Bexar County, Austin and Travis County, the Hill Country, and south into the Eagle Ford corridor. If your site sits outside those areas, call 210-372-8666 and we will tell you whether we reach it.

It depends on the classification status and the routing that week. If the material is already tested and profiled, we can usually move faster than customers expect in our core service areas. If testing has not happened yet, that step sets the timeline rather than we do. Call 210-372-8666 for current lead times on your area before you commit to a date.

Yes. We hold a contaminated soil hauling license from the Railroad Commission of Texas, which most roll-off companies in this market do not. Once soil is tested and classified as non-hazardous, we set up the waste profile and haul it to a licensed landfill. Soil that tests hazardous needs a hazardous waste hauler instead.

In most cases, yes. The TCLP test classifies the material and determines whether we can haul it and where it can go. Without a classification, a landfill has no basis to accept the load. If you are not sure your material needs testing, call us first and we will tell you.

Yes, with testing first. Spent blast media can carry metals from the coatings it stripped, so it usually needs a TCLP test to classify it. Once it comes back Class 1 or Class 2 non-hazardous, we set up the profile and haul it. This is a common stream on coating and industrial maintenance jobs across South Texas.

Anything hazardous, and anything that tests above Class 2: batteries and automotive fluids, tires, propane tanks, medical waste, asbestos, appliances holding refrigerant, liquid waste, and flammable or explosive materials. If your material is one of these, you need a licensed hazardous waste hauler, and we will point you that way.

By the material and the site, not off a rate card. What moves the number is the classification, the volume, which licensed landfill can receive that class, and how far the material has to travel to get there. Tell us those four things and we can quote it properly instead of guessing high to cover the unknowns.

Ready to move the material?

Tell us what it is and where it is sitting. We will tell you what testing it needs, what class it is likely to fall under, and when we can be there.
