Landscaping Dumpster Rental in San Antonio and Austin

Roll-off containers for tree removal, land clearing, and storm cleanup across Bexar County, Travis County,
and the Hill Country. Most clearing jobs need two containers, and we quote both up front.

South Texas Dumpsters rents 20, 30, and 40 yard roll-off containers to landscaping contractors and property maintenance crews in San Antonio, Austin, and the Hill Country. Most clearing jobs produce two kinds of debris.

Brush and limbs are light and bulky, so they fill a container up. Soil, sod, and root balls are heavy, so they reach the 10 ton road limit while the container still looks half empty. Tell us if your job has both when you call 210-372-8666, and we'll send the right containers in the right order.

Why one container usually isn't enough

Brush and dirt need different containers. Brush is light and takes up space, so it fills a container up. Dirt, sod, and root balls on the other hand are heavy, so they reach the 10 ton road limit while the container still looks half empty.

Load both into the same container and it goes over the weight limit. The driver either refuses it or charges you for the extra weight. Then it has to be unloaded and reworked after you've already paid to fill it, while your crew waits.

Most clearing jobs get ordered as one container because nobody asks what the debris is. Tell us on the first call whether the job includes grading, sod stripping, or stumps, and we'll send two.

Jobs we supply containers for

Tree removal

Large-limb work, full takedowns, and the trunk sections and root balls that come with them. The wood is light and the root balls are heavy, so most takedowns need two containers.

Land clearing for development and grading

Lot clearing before a build, brush and cedar removal, and the sod and spoil that come off during grading. Grading jobs almost always need two containers.

Storm cleanup

Downed limbs and wind debris after a storm. There is usually a lot of it and you usually need it gone quickly.

Seasonal cutback and green waste

Heavy pruning cycles, hedge and cedar removal, and green waste collected across a maintenance route.

Ongoing commercial property maintenance

Retail centers, office parks, HOA common areas, and any property where the grounds contract produces debris on a regular schedule.

This work runs year round here. San Antonio and Austin have no dormant season, so maintenance contractors order containers in January as often as in July. If your clearing work is part of a build, our construction page covers running containers across a multi-stage project.

How the rental works

Call us with the job details.

Tell us roughly how much brush you have, and whether the job includes grading, sod stripping, or stumps. That decides what we send. Call 210-372-8666.

We tell you what you need.

Which container goes out first, which one follows, and whether that is one delivery or two.

We deliver and place the container.

We put it where you are loading, with room for the truck to drop and lift it. We agree on the spot with you when you book, because clearing sites change as the work moves.

You load by material.

Brush in the 40-yard. Dirt, sod, and stumps in the 20-yard. Mixed loads are the main reason a container gets refused.

We swap it when it fills.

If a container fills before the job is done, we haul it away, dispose of the debris, and drop an empty one in the same spot. The replacement is billed as its own rental.

We haul the last container and handle disposal.

You don't deal with the landfill at all.

Five days of notice guarantees availability. We book shorter turnarounds often, and same-day or next-day delivery is frequently available around San Antonio and Austin depending on routing. Call for current lead times at your address.

What size container you need

Most clearing jobs need two containers. One for brush. One for anything with dirt in it. Order both at the same time.

Brush and limb

40-yard. Brush is light, so you run out of space before you get near the weight limit. Order the biggest container your site fits. The walls are 8 feet high, which works for grapple and machine loading over the side. If you fill it before the job is done, we swap it for an empty one.
40-Yard

Soil, sod, and spoil

20-yard. Dirt is heavy. A container of it reaches the 10 ton road limit before it looks full. A bigger container does not help, because you would just be loading more weight into it. The walls are 4 feet high, so a crew or a skid steer can load over the side. We'll tell you how high to fill it when you book.
20-Yard

Stumps and root balls

20-yard. The wood is light but the dirt packed around the roots is heavy, and it does not shake off. Treat them as a heavy load, the same as soil. Tell us how many stumps you have and roughly how wide they are when you call.
20-Yard

Brush and dirt going in together

30-yard. For smaller jobs where sorting the debris isn't worth it. The walls are 6 feet high. Tell us the load is mixed when you book, because it will reach the weight limit sooner than a brush-only container.
30-Yard

What can and cannot go in

We accept non-hazardous debris only. The list below covers what comes up on clearing jobs. Our full accepted list is longer.

Heavy landscaping waste from large tree removal and land clearingHazardous waste of any kind, including paint, oils, solvents, and chemicals
Brush, limbs, and trunk sectionsLiquid waste of any kind

Mixed construction and demolition debris where clearing overlaps a buildPropane tanks and any flammable or explosive material
Soil, sod, and root ballsAsbestos and medical waste

Contaminated soil is a different service. Ordinary yard soil is just heavy. Contaminated soil is regulated, and it has to go through TCLP testing and a waste profile under Railroad Commission of Texas oversight before we can move it.

We hold a contaminated soil hauling license from the Railroad Commission of Texas and we do handle this work, but it is booked separately. If your site has a spill, a buried tank, or anything that might fail a test, read our contaminated soil hauling guide and call us before you load anything.

Why choose South Texas Dumpsters

We ask what debris you have before we quote a size.

Most companies ask what size you want. We ask what the job produces, because a job with grading in it needs different containers than a job that is only cutting.

We book the swap in advance.

If your job will fill more than one container, we schedule the replacement when you book, not when you run out of room. We pick up the full container, dispose of the debris, and drop an empty one in the same spot. It is billed as a separate rental.

We know the soil in this market.

Bexar and Travis counties sit on either side of the Balcones Fault. North and west of it, the soil is shallow and stony over limestone, with caliche through the Hill Country. South and east along I-35, it is deep Blackland clay that holds water and gets heavier after rain. Neither type is light, so we size the dirt container based on where your site is.

We have been doing this for over a decade.

We have hauled for South and Central Texas contractors for more than ten years. We hold EPA ID TXR000083663 for waste transport, along with the rest of our permits and credentials.

Where we serve

We deliver across San Antonio and Bexar County, Austin and Travis County, and the Hill Country communities between them. For San Antonio, see our roll-off dumpster rental page. We also have pages for Austin, New Braunfels, Boerne, San Marcos, and Seguin.

We ask for the address early because the soil changes across this area. A cedar clearing in Boerne and a lot strip in Seguin produce different spoil and need different sized containers. Our full service area list has every community we cover.

FAQ

One container if the job is only cutting and brush removal, and it should be a 40-yard. Two containers if the job includes grading, sod stripping, or stump removal: a 40-yard for the brush and a 20-yard for the dirt. Brush fills a container by volume and dirt fills it by weight, so one container will be the wrong size for one of them. Tell us the job details when you call and we will tell you which you need.

A 40-yard for limbs, brush, and cut trunk sections. Plant debris is light for its size, so you fill the space long before the load nears the 10 ton road limit, and the 8-foot walls work for machine and grapple loading. Root balls are the exception. Put those in a 20-yard with the soil.

Put stumps and root balls in the 20-yard with the soil. The dirt packed around the roots does not shake off, which makes them some of the heaviest debris a clearing job produces. We are confirming current acceptance and whether there is a limit on stump size or count. Call 210-372-8666 with the stump count and rough diameters

Soil and sod go in a 20-yard, and you do not fill it to the top, because dirt reaches the 10 ton road limit before the container looks full. We are confirming the exact acceptance terms and fill level with our operations team, so call 210-372-8666 with the volume you expect. Ordinary yard soil is not the same as contaminated soil, which needs TCLP testing and Railroad Commission of Texas oversight and is booked as a separate service.

Four things: container size, how long you keep it, what goes in it, and where the site is. Debris type matters more on clearing jobs than on most, because brush and dirt cost different amounts to haul and dispose of. If the job needs a swap or a second container, we include that in the original quote. Call 210-372-8666 with the job details and we will quote all of it at once.

The ground has to hold the loaded weight and give the truck room to drop and lift the container, and a container of dirt is much heavier to pick up than one of brush. That is why we agree the spot when you book. Tell us what the ground is like, how the truck would get in, and how wet the site is, and we will tell you what works at your address.

Yes. We deliver landscaping and land clearing containers across Austin and Travis County, San Antonio and Bexar County, and Hill Country communities including Boerne, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Seguin. Soil conditions vary across that area, so give us the address along with the job details and we will size the containers for your site.
